BlackBerry App World gets new content ratings

RIM has just announced that it will be pushing out some new features to the BlackBerry App World which will make publishing and discovering apps on the BlackBerry platform a safer experience for everyone involved. BlackBerry users won't really have to do anything but developers will have to rate their own apps so they can be categorized in the BlackBerry App World appropriately. Most apps will be given the G (General) rating, while quite a number of apps will receive the Teen (T) rating, especially if they have anything to do with BBM, Facebook, Twitter, “chat” and “dating”.

Verizon Samsung Droid Charge Android 2.3 Gingerbread update now rolling out

Verizon Samsung Droid Charge Android 2.3 Gingerbread update now rolling out

The Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for Verizon's Samsung Droid Charge has started rolling out today, only one day later than it was supposed to. I guess after waiting for this update since the phone was released in April, Droid Charge owners probably don't mind the extra one day of waiting they had to do. The update has already been applied by some lucky souls. It's an over-the-air affair, so you'll be able to perform it even without hooking your phone up to a computer, but keep in mind that, as with all OTA updates, the rollout may be staggered. That means that you may not see the update yet. In that case, don't panic.

While the guide number (34 meters/111.5 feet at ISO 100) and zoom range (17-200mm in FX format) remain the same, the menu system has gotten an overhaul.

Apple Inc. is devising a new television, nicknamed the iTV, that not only hears your shouts and sees your gestures – but can understand them too. According to experts, the revolutionary new interactive sets may be available by late next year. In a posthumous biography, the late Apple founder Steve Jobs had hinted at the new technology being developed, the Daily Mail reported.

“I'd like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use,” Jobs was quoted as saying.

“It would be seamlessly synched with all of your devices and with iCloud. It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine.

Public policy groups accuse AT&T of merger ‘gamesmanship,' call for release of FCC docs

. Putting it simply, AT&T's planned purchase of T-Mobile USA is beginning to sound like a game of chess (with a sprinkle of politics, of course). Public Knowledge and Media Access Project requested Tuesday that the Federal Communications Commission release documents related to AT&T's planned $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA. The two public policy groups argue that “the public deserves for the Commission's determinations to see the light of day.” AT&T recently withdrew its acquisition application from the FCC to focus on a lawsuit brought against the merger by the Department of Justice.

Acer VP: 'we're never gonna give notebooks up, let them down, run around and desert them'

Acer's no stranger to netbooks: it knows the rules and so does vice president Scott Lin, who has said that a full commitment's what he's thinking of. It comes in the wake of Samsung running around and deserting baby-laptops for ultrabooks, but Acer's never gonna say goodbye. Well-off westerners might be obsessed with slates, but emerging markets like China, India and Indonesia prefer the cheaper units. The company's plan is simple - what it doesn't make in profit on individual units, it'll make back in the sheer volume of units sold.
