Climb to the Clouds returning thanks to Subaru title sponsorship (video)

The Mt. Washington Hillclimb, otherwise known as the Climb to the Clouds, hasn't been done since 2011. That year, Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins set a new record for the event first held in 1904, running the 7.6-mile vertiginous course in 6:11.54. The race will be return in 2014 with the help of that very carmaker, Subaru of America having stepped in to the title sponsor role for what will be the Subaru Mt. Washington Hillclimb.

Taking place from June 26-29, 75 modern and vintage cars will spend three days racing up the 6,288-foot-high mountain.

Embedded posts may contain pictures, hashtags, videos as well as other content. People who view the embedded post on a user's blog or website will be able to like it or share it directly from the embed itself. Microsoft Office For Android Released

A few weeks after releasing Office for iPhone, Microsoft today announced the launch of Office for Android. Any smartphone running version 4.0 or higher would be able to install the Office app. It brings Word, PowerPoint and Excel though there's a little caveat. Microsoft isn't offering a standalone version that one can purchase, the app itself is free, but users will require a Microsoft Office 365 subscription in order to view and edit their documents, presentations and sheets.
Given that the editing functionality on this app is very basic, its meant to be used so as to make corrections on the go.

Kantar: Android still leads in the US but iOS catches up

Google's Android continues to lead in one of the most important smartphones market, accounting for 51.5% of all smartphone sales in United States in the past quarter. The report comes from the popular research firm, Kantar Worldpanel. However, the green robot's share has shrunk compared to the same period of last year, when the stats read 52.6%. And while iOS is still some way back it's has considerably shortened the distance in the third quarter of the iPhone 5 availability.

Apple's platform has seen its share rise by 3.3 percent points over the same period last year.

Verizon-bound Nokia Lumia 729 with PureView camera leaks

Fresh out the rumor frying pan comes a press shot of a yet unheard-of Nokia Lumia 729. The device sports a yellow paint job, PureView branding on the camera and is apparently destined to Verizon Wireless in the US. Despite similarities in the name the alleged Nokia Lumia 729 looks nothing like the Lumia 720 but may sport the same innards, save maybe for the camera.
The Nokia Lumia 729, could slot just below the Lumia 928 in the carrier's WP8 lineup. There are no specifics surrounding the pricing or specs sheet but some suggest an HD screen is involved.

Samsung Galaxy Note II with Snapdragon 600 goes official

The Snapdragon 600-powered Samsung Galaxy Note II that leaked some days ago is the real deal. The sped-up version was just announced by China Mobile, the largest carrier in China. The device is designated N7108D. The new Samsung Galaxy Note II looks virtually identical to the original with a 5.5x720p Super AMOLED touchscreen and S Pen, but the new chipset adds TD-LTE, FDD-LTE and TD-SCDMA alongside regular WCDMA and GSM.

And, of course, the new quad-core Krait 300 CPU wipes the floor with the old quad-core Cortex-A9 as does the Adreno 320 GPU with the Mali-400.

So far weÂ've been pretty skeptical of the budget iPhone leaks as they bear a very strong resemblance to a certain China-built Android phone. This, however, could be the money shot - the plastic budget iPhone with FCC labels on the back. None of the other leaks weÂ've seen (and there have been plenty) had such labels. The labels could, of course, be faked quite easily (especially in a blurry shot like this). Still, weÂ're on the lookout for official FCC docs - a non-blurry shot with the FCC ID clearly visible would be a great start.

Anyway, the rumor mill also says that this budget iPhone will be unveiled on September 6.

Google does seem to have dipped their fingers into a slew of different projects, and this time around, we have word that their very own real-time translation project for the spoken – take note, spoken, and not written, word over smartphones are inching closer and closer to the 100% accuracy mark, which is something that ought to make everyone else sit up and take notice. Can't wait for the new Nexus 7. Well, here's some good news for you then. It appears that it's already available in some retailers' stores, way ahead of the official release date of July 30. Google announced the new Nexus 7 a couple of days ago, and it was supposed to be out next Tuesday. However, Best Buy decided not to wait and it looks like all of the chain's stores have the new tablet in stock right now.

Not content to let Best Buy have all the fun, Walmart wants in on the action too and has the Nexus 7 available in some of its stores.
