Dealers wanting to sell Ford's first all-electric car must Focus on the environment

You can't just sell the new 2012 Ford Focus Electric, you've got to embrace what it stands for, or at least that's what Dearborn is telling its dealers. Per the company HQ, outfits hoping to offer the electric hatchback on their lots later this year must send sales staff through a special electric vehicle training program. What's more, all dealerships carrying the electric Focus must install a minimum of two EV charging stations on their premises and enroll in Ford's Go Green program. Go Green, which has been optional up to this point, looks to improve the sustainability and efficiency of shops, regardless of age.

. How many times have you or someone you know lost a pet. I've been looking for something I can use to keep track of my dog, Moto, when we take him out of the house - you know, in case he starts to chase a squirrel and gets off leash. The Pet Tracker is the best thing I've found so far. It's a reasonably small puck (with wings) that securely attaches to your dog's leash, and it features a cellular connection to provide data on your pet's whereabouts. It will also provide information about the device itself.

A Safe Swiss Army Knife Just for Kids

I've carried Swiss Army knives for years – I have two in my purse right now.  My daughter has been fascinated by those little knives, especially the one with the translucent green covers on my keychain.  She's been asking for her own knife since she could talk, but she had to wait until her middle school “graduation” to get one.  If you have a toddler that's fascinated with your pocket knife, you can give her one of her own that you know is safe.  ThinkGeek has the Kids Swiss Army Knife.  This is an official Victorinox toy with 6 plastic tools.  There's a spoon and fork (big enough to eat with), a saw blade and knife b

Images of the device first surfaced over at Crackberry's forums and, as the site points out, the touchscreen candy bar seems to share its design DNA with the PlayBook. Keeping in mind that it's likely to remain a testing device for devs, don't bank on it ever hitting store shelves.

Fujitsu Laboratories wants to take your mobile's 2D videos to another dimension

Fujitsu Laboratories has developed technology that will let any phone grab pictures and video with some of that third-dimension spice. Using a small attachment with cleverly positioned mirrors, the widget sits atop your phone's plain old 2D camera and breaks the incoming image into two. Once the data has been grabbed, you then send it off to Fujitsu's servers, whereupon it'll be converted into a 3D format. This isn't the first 2D-to-3D idea, but the main advantage, of course, is that your poor phone doesn't have to do all the leg-work - but it undoubtedly comes at the expense of some quality.

Apple and Google were not rivals right from the get go, and when Apple first rolled out the iPhone in 2007, Google has yet to announce its plans to make a splash in the smartphone market. All I can say is, I am glad that Google did roll out Android to the world, allowing us to have a choice in terms of smartphone operating systems instead of sticking to just Symbian and Windows Mobile (back then).

Nokia Lumia 610 and Lumia 900 launch delayed in the Philippines until May

Last week we found out that Nokia's Lumia 610 was bound to be launched in Asia before the end of this month. Apparently the first country to get it would be the Philippines. However, we're now hearing that Nokia is facing even more delays. That's according to one of Nokia's local marketing executives over there, who allegedly revealed this to Electronic Pulp. Both phones should see a release sometime in May, but there are no exact dates to speak of yet.

China's middle class is predicted to mint up to 500 million new bourgeois comrades in the next 15 years, and not only will that mean new car owners, but more of those owners will be women. Along with rising incomes, that has put The Middle Kingdom into an SUV-buying boom driven by "tiger moms," similar to the splurge that happened here in the 1990s but with big, striped cats replacing black-spotted white balls. The trend has enough force already that SUV sales are expected to make up for other slumping segments, which is just about all of them.
