Collectively, the Autoblog staff has its fair share of two-wheeled close calls, but the gentleman in the video above takes the cake for skin-of-your-teeth escapes. While sitting at an intersection waiting for a stop light to change, a semi truck takes a hard left turn in front of him and soon topples onto its side mere feet from the biker's front tire. While the video doesn't have any audio to go with its images, we imagine the noise of that big metal box falling over could only be rivaled by the rider's shrieks of terror.

Docomo has unveiled a dual-screen smartphone, the Medias W. It features two 4.3″ displays, a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, an 8.1MP camera and runs Android 4.1. We're going to go ahead and give Kia the benefit of the doubt – the automaker brought us a bathing-suit-clad Adriana Lima in its Super Bowl spot from last year. That kind of thing doesn't go unappreciated. But, if we're really honest, and judging solely on the "teaser" image seen here, the space suit-wearing, baby-star from Kia's commercial this year is really creeping us out.
In any event, the Kia ad (sorry, "mini-movie") called Space Babies will be set on the distant planet of "Babylandia," and will attempt to present some kind of lie about where babies come from in the ultimate service of selling the 2014 Kia Sorento.

The Booqpad mini iPad mini case from Booq Bags is the latest iPad mini case to show up on my door step.  This time it's a folio style case complete with a notepad and pen holder. Let's take it for a spin. Note: Images can be clicked to view a larger size.

This  case is available in two styles: Black leatherette and Grey jute. I was sent the Grey version which has a tweed appearance.  The Booqpad mini is a play-through case with a non-padded but rigid front and back cover.

Orobis Transform USB cable with microUSB and Lightning connectors

The Orobis Transform USB cable is an indiegogo crowd-funding project.  This cable has a USB male connector on one end and a transforming connector on the other that contains both an Apple Lightning connector and a microUSB connector, so this one cable can be used to charge a variety of devices.  It looks almost exactly like the Innergie miniUSB/microUSB/30-pin Apple connector cable that I reviewed last year.  The funding period will continue through March 11, 2013; at the time of writing, they've raised just over 10% of their $25,000 goal.  The cable will be available in black or white, and shipping is expected to begin in May 2013.

Racecars blow engines all the time, but a Porsche 917 isn't just a run-of-the-mill racecar. British automotive writer Mark Hales reportedly borrowed a 917 from 82-year-old former Formula One racer David Piper for a magazine article, and mechanical tragedy ensued. Nobody is arguing that the engine failed after being spun to 8,200 rpm. However, Hales was warned not to exceed 7,000 rpm, says owner Piper, and the affair landed in English courts with Piper seeking £50,000 – over $79,000 US – in reimbursement funds for an engine rebuild and loss of use of the car while it was being repaired.
