Gameloft's N.O.V.A. 3 now available on Google Play

Just a few days following the release of Gameloft's N.O.V.A. 3 on the iOS platform, the French computer and video game developer has just launched the game on Google Play today. Of course, this doesn't come as a surprise to us. Gameloft already broke the news two months ago that its N.O.V.A. 3 game, a sequel to the 2010 N.O.V.A 2, will be hitting both iOS and Android soon. Similar to the price on iTunes, the game is available on Google Play for $6.99. So, if you are an Android user who happens to have a lust for shooting, I suggest that you try it out.

Panasonic's UN-W700 runs Android, streams Blu-ray video, takes Skype calls, isn't a tablet

We've seen Android used for home theater purposes before, but it's been rare that a company has wanted Google's OS used almost exclusively with that purpose in mind. Panasonic is gambling that its UN-W700 can use Android (2.3, unfortunately) for an all-singing, all-dancing compact video device. The 7-inch, 800x480 standee plays media from its SDXC card slot or over DLNA, including recordings normally destined for Blu-ray from one of Panasonic's Diga set-top boxes.

Motorist dies after being poisoned by airbag in minor crash

According to the coroner's office, Ronald Smith of Mardsen, South Shields in the UK "died as a result of the car crash and more pointedly because of the explosion of his airbag, and exposure to noxious substances.". According to IOL Motoring, Smith had been involved in a six-car accident in November of 2010 on his way home from work. While he wasn't physically injured in the crash, Smith inhaled the noxious contents of his airbag, which he said amounted to gases and a bunch of white powder, when an errant shard of glass punctured the bag.

Baidu releases ROM of their own for Android smartphones in China

When it comes to China, the country has its own version of Google that mimics some of the company's services, like a search engine, a mobile platform (which admittedly is based off Android) and a cloud service of their own in response to the recently launched Google Drive and other cloud storage services. Perhaps looking to give residents in China to rely more on their services and less on Google's (although some of their services is blocked in China), Baidu has since released a ROM that will replace Google's services on their mobile phones.

UK: Acer Allegro with Windows Phone 7.5 now just £139.99

The Acer Allegro can now be bought in the UK, in SIM-free and unlocked form, for just £139.99. That's amazingly cheap for a smartphone running Windows Phone 7.5 (codenamed Mango), especially since the Allegro initially went for about €300 (which is £240-ish). If you're interested in an affordable Windows Phone, you should know that we haven't seen one cheaper than this yet. And while the Nokia Lumia 610 may be marketed as such, in fact it is more expensive. And it has just 256 MB of RAM, which means that some apps and games don't work on it (most notable at the moment: Skype and Angry Birds).

Report: Microsoft Office coming to Android November 10th

A rumor last week broke regarding a possible release of Microsoft Office on Android (and other platforms) this November, and it appears the rumor could be spot on. A source of The Daily’s has apparently confirmed a November 10th release for the productivity suite. The development and design of the application are finished, apparently, with just one more stage to go through before it’s ready. We reckon the app will actually  be completed sometime this September as Microsoft will have to make ample time for Apple to approve the launch ahead of its November 10th release date.

New service lets you track tweets politicians tried to delete

. A number of politicians have found themselves in hot water over the years following inappropriate or even vulgar messages posted to Twitter. Now, thanks to a new service called Poliwoops, politicians in the U.S. will find it even more difficult to hide from their tweets. Created by the Sunlight Foundation, Politweets follows a number of government officials and exposes any tweet they post and then delete, whether it is deleted immediately or even days after being posted.

“Sure, we all tweet things we don't mean to share, but now politicians have no way to hide them,” Poliwoops's website proclaims.

A couple of days ago, we reported that UK carrier Orange was set to debut the Intel-powered Android handset today. True to their word, the carrier has officially taken the wraps off the Orange San Diego. The device was previously codenamed Santa Clara but we guess it got a name change upon its release. The handset is expected to launch on the 6th of June with both pay-as-you-go and monthly pricing options, with the former setting customers back 199.99 for the phone itself, while the latter being free of charge although they will be tied to a two-year contract.

With the introduction of the HTC EVO 4G LTE, Sprint effectively gets its own “HTC One” phone, renamed into one of the successful “EVO” Franchise that made history for Sprint. The EVO 4G LTE does look like its HTC One X cousin for the outside, even if it does not use the same type of industrial design. On the inside, the HTC EVO 4G LTE is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon S4 equipped with a very fast graphics processor. The camera sensor, Operating System and HTC Sense layer are otherwise identical to the HTC One X smartphone that we recently reviewed.

Bio-chemical circuits may make you a man of a machine

Bio-chemical circuits may make you a man of a machine

You'd be more than forgiven for not knowing who Klas Tybrandt is. The doctoral student at Linköping University is hardly a household name, but his latest creation may garner him some serious attention. The Swedish scientist has combined special transistors he developed into an integrated circuit capable of transmitting positive and negative ions as well as biomolecules. The advantage here is that, instead of simply controlling electronics, the circuits carry chemicals which can have a variety of functions, such as acetylcholine which the human body uses to transmit signals between cells.

Google Nexus tablet appears in benchmarks, appears to run on quad-core Tegra 3

ASUS's seven-inch MeMo tablet has just ducked under the FCC's gates, but some benchmark results for a purported Google and ASUS team-up could tally with the same device. According to the listing, the Google Asus Nexus 7 will arrive with NVIDIA's quad-core Tegra 3 CPU, clocked at 1.3 GHz, while that (presumably) 7-inch screen packs a 768 x 1280 resolution. The hardware specs end there, but thanks to some investigation by Android Police and Rightware, it appears that this mystery tablet is running Android 4.1 — possibly the version number for Android's next iteration, Jelly Bean.

It wasn't long ago that we heard about the “lock-up” woes D4 and D800 owners were experiencing on their shiny new shooters, but luckily for them, Nikon just outed a fix to take care of those issues. Aside from solving the aforementioned annoyance, the firmware update (B:1.01) also mends a problem allowing RAW files to be network-transferred while in JPEG-only mode, as well as a bug causing bits like aperture and exposure compensation to change unexpectedly when using certain custom settings.

And you know what, my computer crashes whenever I run high resource games such as Need for Speed and Dolphin emulator to play Super Mario Galaxy.

They’re expecting shipments within the next few days, and while they’re not ready to give a solid date just yet we have a feeling Sprint won’t drag their feet on it, and they won’t let the day go by without letting all of us know.

If Amazon's video store is going to compete with the other online sources like Hulu and Netflix, getting on as many platforms as possible is key and it made a major expansion today by launching on the Xbox 360. The app launched on the PS3 back in April, and just like that version, this one includes access to Amazon's video on-demand and Prime all-you-can-eat subscription based streaming. Unique to the Xbox 360 app is support for the console's Kinect peripheral and its ability to recognize control by gesture or voice, plus a brand new feature for Amazon — a queue.

4K TV already being trialed by one UK broadcaster

4K in the UK. It could happen sooner rather than later, if viewers give a thumbs up to feedback tests currently being conducted by a British broadcaster. According to a senior figure at a company that is directly involved in the experiments, people are being asked if they can spot the difference between 4K and regular 1920 x 1080, which will help to decide whether the format is worthy of immediate investment. Our source refused to reveal which broadcaster is running the show, beyond saying that it has complete control over its pipeline right down to the set-top box, which hints at Sky or perhaps Virgin being likely candidates.

Watch the world's most epic wheel-to-wheel paintball battle

Those of you who've played paintball know the game rarely turns out how you imagined it. The weapons fire a .68 caliber blob using compressed air, and as such, they have all the accuracy of a pool noodle fired from a howitzer. That doesn't make it any less fun to track your friends down through the woods and paint them dayglow pink, though. One filmmaker has decided to show off exactly what the game looks like in the imaginations of 12-year-old boys everywhere by throwing in unsanctioned weaponry like full-on Nitro Circus Baja trucks, airfoils, ATVs, motocross bikes, Jeep Wrangler troop carriers and plenty of dirt jumps.

Motorcycling has its hazards. Otherwise inoffensive everyday objects from small stones to birds and cut grass can turn your day from a pleasant ride in the countryside to a quick skid across the pavement. Just ask an unnamed husband and wife who were recently cruising along in Tennessee. The couple were riding down South Church Street in Murfreesboro when a golf ball from a nearby golf course came sailing through the air and busted out the woman's teeth.

Wisconsin man avoids jail by agreeing to have his Nissan Skylines crushed

Authorities in Wisconsin are bound and determined to crack down on gray market vehicles. According to Stevens Point Journal, In 2010, the state government orchestrated a sting to catch Justin Beno selling two Nissan Skyline models, one of which played a role in the Fast and Furious franchise. A Wisconsin Department of Transportation investigator spotted both a 1995 and a 1996 Skyline up for sale and pretended to be a buyer. The investigator asked if it were possible to get the cars titled, and Beno said he believed the vehicles could be titled in Florida, then retitled in Wisconsin.
This was not the correct answer.
