Surgeon abandons car due to traffic, uses kid's bike to make operation on time

Most of are used to seeing doctors driving around in BMWs and Land Rovers, but Dr. Catherine Baucom, a surgeon in Louisiana, showed up to work on a pink kid's bicycle. After getting stuck in a traffic jam when a car accident shut down a stretch of Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge, Dr. Baucom showed how dedicated she is to her work. Instead of waiting in the traffic and postponing a scheduled surgery, she left the interstate and headed to a friend's house nearby to seek alternative transportation. As you can see from the image above, all the fellow doctor had to offer Dr.

Remote control driven car from China

Remote control driven car from China

Have you watched “Tomorrow Never Dies”, where 007 controlled his BMW 750iL with his Ericsson handset. Well, that was certainly fantasy back in the day, but just like how most folks wondered when will large scale touchscreen technology arrive in the real world after watching Minority Report and seeing how tablets and smartphones are all pervasive today, we would not bet against a remote controlled car being on our streets in a decade's time, either. What you see above is actually a China-made remote controlled car, but it is still a far cry from what James Bond's BMW 750iL is capable of.

What do the following smartphones from LG have in common. I am referring to the Optimus 2X, Black, 3D, LTE, Prada, and the correct answer would be this – all of them have yet to receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, but we are pleased to say that this is no longer the case, at least in the days and weeks ahead. Who would have thought that LG Singapore would be the party to reveal information concerning an Ice Cream Sandwich update for the LG Optimus 2X, Black, 3D, LTE, and Prada.

TangiBot manufactures ethics controversy by replicating open-source Makerbot 3D printer

A Kickstarter entry has managed to stir the fairness pot by touting a MakerBot Replicator clone called TangiBot - legally copied from the original 3D printer's open source plans. The project's creator, Matt Strong, says that the device will offer "the same performance and features at a roughly 33 percent discount" to Makerbot's $1,800 price tag, thanks to Chinese manufacturing. That's inflamed some in the 3D printing fraternity, who take exception to the exact copying of a design without any improvement.

With the iPhone 5 pre-orders opening up in a matter of weeks, another leak may confirm previous rumors regarding a smaller, miniature dock connector. Unless there is some sort of elaborate conspiracy going on between third party accessory makers, it's probably safe to say the new iPhone is coming with a smaller dock connector and a whole new set of accessories. An alleged next-generation Apple USB connector cable appeared in a leaked photo yesterday. With rumors of a similarly shaped 16-pin port for the new iPhone, iPad and iPad mini, we may be looking at the future of Apple's unique USB cables.

Scarlet Motors promises an open EV design process

It's not every day that you see a new EV manufacturer get started; it's even less common when the company promises a switch-up of the typical automaker's formula. Scarlet Motors has made its formal debut with an aim towards the same kind of openness in its electric sports cars that founder Julien Fourgeaud would be familiar with from his days at Nokia and the Symbian Foundation. In addition to giving a peek behind the curtain, Tesla-style, Finland-based Scarlet wants future (and eventually current) drivers to influence the design choices themselves, both through a dedicated community as well as Facebook and Twitter.

The Indian government has not gotten into the good books of its people in the past, and it seems as though the latest development is going to help it nudge towards that direction either. In fact, the government of the day faced a potential backlash of angry Twitter users after they ordered Internet service providers to block approximately 20 accounts which, according to officials, claim had spread scare-mongering material which had the potential to threaten national security. The Indian government threatened “appropriate and suitable action” against Twitter if it failed to remove the accounts as soon as possible.

If you're looking to plan ahead for next summer's grueling yard chores, Honda has something that will help you sweat a bit less. The company has unveiled Miimo, a robotic lawn mower that trims 2-3mm of grass in several shifts during the course of a week. The green-thumbed robot navigates with a combination of controls, timers and sensors while working inside the constraints of a buried boundary wire. As you might expect, you'll be able to ditch the gas can as well thanks to a lithium-ion battery and docking station (similar to a Roomba).
