When Aereo announced that — after releasing on iOS back in May — an Android app was in the works, I nearly leaped for joy. As someone who can't justify paying an extra $40 a month just to watch my favorite television shows, Aereo's promise of live channel streaming from the comfort of my Android device or laptop sounded like a godsend. After encountering some resistance early on (broadcasters took the matter to the Supreme Court), the application finally hit the Google Play Store today where it's currently available to download in beta form (Android 4.2+).
