Following Amazon, the folks at GetJar have started a program to offer free applications to users that would otherwise cost coin. They're calling it GetJar gold and it works a bit differently from Amazon's. For starters, more free applications are available at one time, and they're added by the bulk – no having to hope you don't miss out on an app because you forgot to check the app market. Unfortunately, it's unclear how long these paid applications remain free.
