Earlier yesterday, we brought you word that Apple has made available the iOS 5.0.1 update over at iTunes, in addition to people in Europe getting their updates Over The Air (OTA). How about folk living Stateside. Well, it seems that this is the first computer-free iOS update released to the general public, which means there is no need to connect to a computer. Of course, I would highly recommend you stick to a Wi-Fi network and make sure your iPhone is charged up to the maximum before attempting this, as you can never tell just when your battery might run into issues – which the iOS 5.0.1 is supposed to fixed by the way.
Ubergizmo, iOS 5.0.1 update issued by Apple in the US as well
