China surpasses U.S. in smartphone usage, becomes world's largest smartphone market

China is indeed a sleeping giant. According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology or MIIT, China now has over 1 billion (1.01882 billion to be exact) mobile subscribers as of March this year with a growing rate of 1.18 percent per month. This of course, is not surprising considering that China is currently the most populous country in the world  with 1.3 billion people. But what's interesting though is a factoid about China made by the research firm Catalyst. According to Catalyst, China has just overtaken the U.S. as the world's largest smartphone market.
