Bret Michaels selling family truckster and more at Barrett-Jackson

As the Poison frontman is wont to sing, every rose has its thorn. Indeed, if the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Bret Michaels sold at the 2011 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction was that flower, his latest consignments are as painful as pricked fingers. Michaels will be offering three vehicles at the sale, to be held January 15-22, 2012. The first (and the only marginally interesting one) is a 2004 Bentley Continental GT.

Bada 2.0 update not making it to older Wave phones before 2012

We thought we would be bringing smiles all-round, when we posted back in early September that Samsung were on track to provide nearly every one of their devices bearing the 'Wave' name with a nice dose of Bada 2.0 before the year was out. Of course alongside the likes of the Wave 3, which came running the latest iteration of Sammy's OS out of the box, it was also expected that users of all older Bada handsets would receive the gift of 2.0 by Q4 2011. Now however, it would appear that Samsung aren't quite up to the task as they first promised.

New car seat concept uses your butt print as identifica- ppprrrrffffffff~!

If Fido can distinguish people and other pooches by their backsides, why not a seat. When students at the Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology in Tokyo, Japan asked that question, they came up with a car seat fitted with 360 sensors that makes a map of the pressure applied by your posterior. Among the six rumps tested, the seat was 98 percent accurate at sorting one from another. The ultimate aim is to work with automakers to develop an anti-theft solution that would be available in the next few years.

60Beat, a Proper Game Controller for iOS

60Beat, a Proper Game Controller for iOS

If enough games support it, the 60Beat pad could be huge. The iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad have turned out to be great for games. I play more these days than I have anytime since I was a stoner in college, hooked up to a SNES all day long. But sometimes you just really need a proper controller. Enter the 60Beat GamePad, a Playstation-style joypad for iOS devices.

The 60Beat has almost as many buttons as the keyboard on which I'm typing this post. There's a D-pad, dual analog sticks and a host of regular buttons and shoulder buttons.

As if this wasn't enough to get you entertaining thoughts of jailbreaks and SNES emulators, it gets better.

Samsung ships 1 million Galaxy Note units and confirms U.S. launch

. Samsung recently announced that it has shipped more than 1 million Galaxy Note smartphones. The Galaxy Note, often considered a mix between a tablet and a smartphone due to its size, was first unveiled in September and it features a massive 5.3-inch display with a 1280 x 800-pixel resolution. Other features include a 1.4GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats. Samsung also confirmed Thursday that the Galaxy Note will be released in the United States next year, and early rumors have suggested the phone will make its debut in early 2012 on AT&T with support for LTE.

If your recent Galaxy Nexus purchase found the battery life to be a bit… lacking, I have some good news. Verizon Wireless has the official Samsung — NFC enabled — 1850 mAh batter for only $20. That’s half-off the original asking price. Let me tell you, there’s nothing quite as liberating as having a spare battery at hand.

The Now Network will be offering you, in effect, two Samsung Conquer 4G smartphones for just $49.99 (after a $50 mail-in rebate). HTC offers bootloader unlocking option for all recent Android phones

HTC offers bootloader unlocking option for all recent Android phones

Last May, HTC's chief executive officer Peter Chou responded to customer feedback and announced that the company would no longer be locking the bootloaders on its devices. HTC later introduced the web-based HTCDev unlocking tool, giving users a simple and safe way to unlock their devices. The solution was not perfect though, and phones such as the HTC Vivid and HTC Rezound were released with locked bootloaders and users had no method to unlock them. HTC has made good on its promise once again, however, and the company's developer site has now been updated with the following message:.

When O2 launched the HTC Sensation XE in October, the smartphone was free on £36 per month contracts. That pricing was pretty much on par with the phone's features. However, here we are about two months later, and there's already been a huge price drop for the Sensation XE on contract. Phones 4U now offers you the device on an O2 contract which costs just £21.50 per month. The only catch is that you'll need to pay £19.99 for the device upfront. Which is literally a small price to pay for such a deal.

The £21.50 per month plan will give you 200 minutes, 3,000 texts, and 500 MB of data.

The first three months of the next year should see the official announcements of plenty of new smartphones, but few of them are more hotly anticipated than the Samsung Galaxy S3. Corespondent Alistair Weaver joined up with a Mercedes-Benz convoy in a G of his own as the company took off across Australia's infamous stock route. The trail is little more than a dusty path scrawled across the outback. Weaver braved vicious washboard roads, insects, snakes, dead camels and heinous heat to make the trek.

Japanese vending machine doubles as WiFi hotspot - no purchase required

It looks as if facial scans for snack-dispensing purposes isn't the only mind-blowing feature on the whiz-bang generation of vending machines. Japanese company Asahi has just unveiled an advanced dispenser that's capable of doubling as a WiFi hotspot, so good luck getting through the mobs of leechers just to buy a soda. The machine sends out the internet waves free of charge and covers about 164 feet around it; of note, there's a 30-minute limit on each session - but it's nothing that a fresh login can't solve.

According to news reports, citizens were enlisted to help clear the 40-mile parade route of deep snow ahead of the carefully choreographed procession. Andy Rubin has just tweeted a new Android milestone - 3.7 million Android devices activated on December 24th and 25th. Android recently reached a new milestone last week when it hit 700,000 activations a day, so this jump to a few million in one day is pretty significant. European automakers irked over proposed noise standards

Ward's Auto reports the European Commission is pushing new measures that could burden automakers with stiff noise regulations for cars, buses and trucks. Under the proposed legislation, automakers would need to curb vehicle noise levels by two decibels two years after the legislation's wording is agreed upon by EC member countries. Another two decibel reduction would occur three years after the first installment. Trucks, meanwhile, would be forced to reduce noise by one decibel in the first wave of reductions and two decibels in the second wave.

A new study by Warranty Direct in the UK claims Honda makes vehicles that are the least-susceptible to damage from potholes. According to the company, only 1.4 percent of Honda owners submit a warranty claim for repair due to pothole damage. Compare that figure with the 12.2 percent of Chrysler owners who submit claims – the American automaker found itself the least resilient to pothole damage alongside luxury makes like Land Rover, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Surprisingly enough, Smart actually landed itself in second place for the number of claims submitted as a result of pothole damage.

All that is missing from this merry party to make it an awesome threesome would be some pizza, and at least Capcom has got the formula down pat by opening up a bar. Yes sir, this is not a video games bar, but rather, one that requires bouncers at the door to check the IDs of those lining up to get in simply because it will be serving alcoholic beverages that will certainly dull and dampen the reflexes of gamers. I wonder whether the opening would be a cosplay theme, where you will see folks dressed up as Megamans and Street Fighter characters among others.

Intel is reportedly demonstrating reference designs for smartphones and tablets sporting the company's latest Atom mobile chip, dubbed Medfield, running Google's Android OS. Stephen Smith, vice president of Intel's architecture group, says that products based on these designs will be announced in the first half of 2012. Some may even rear their head next month during CES 2012 if we're lucky. In speaking with MIT Technology Review, Smith claimed that engineers tweaked Medfield specifically to speed up Android apps and web browsing. He also said the SoC will offer a significant technological step toward lower power consumption.
